AQUATER PAPER 1.8 GETTING INDEPENDENCE IN A COMPLEX WORLD

The Problem

The dream of many (perhaps most) workers in the working population of industrial nations is independence. These workers want independence from the whims of people and economic downturns and boring, unrewarding work so they can pursue their ideas and build an exciting life based on them. In order to do this, however, they must have a means of providing food, water, energy and shelter that is free from dependence on a job in the workaday world. Here, we ask if this goal is possible in our modern world, and if so, what would it look like.

The Solution

Is there a way to obtain practical independence? The answer is yes. There is a life style just now coming on line that provides a means of inexpensive travel and entertainment, pays for food and housing and gives a modest cash profit. It also provides a means of participating actively in life and thus allowing one to pursue the ideas that would provide an exciting life.

 The basis for this answer is a vessel called a SEMAN (see AP1.0 Aquater2050.com) that can provide life on the sea independent of a job. This vessel provides the equipment and energy to make fresh water, grow food and harvest energy for sale on land. One can travel to any place near the ocean for free, and enjoy all the electronic entertainment a land dweller enjoys and communicate with others on the Internet. These SEMAN normally travel in groups (pods) to allow personal contact with friends. In addition, the SEMAN can sequester carbon dioxide and thus provide a service to civilization. If the owner wishes to move off the ocean, or if the owner loses his or her health and must move to land, the SEMAN can be sold to provide a new stake for a land based life.

 This life is well suited to providing a living (food, clothing and shelter) while developing a capability in a new area of interest. Such areas might include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Theoretical studies in science and math.
  • Engineering design and prototype construction in any of several new areas.
  • Study and composition development in music and art.
  • Development of a new business area.
  • Internet site development and application design for smart phones.
  • Architecture and interior design work.
  • Research and development in any of several areas.

 Such a procedure is heaven sent for people who want to develop a new life and new skills.

 For people who are struggling to make a living while developing a new life and new ideas, a new life style is just now coming on line with good potential.
