How I invented the SEMAN:

I have always been interested in energy. My motivation for getting a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering was because I wanted to work on clean energy. When it turned out that nuclear fusion had some issues, I started to dream about a new way to make energy from the sea. Someone else invented wind energy capture, but I created a new way to capture energy from the wind that can move to where the wind is! And I invented a way to capture energy from the waves along the way. As I contemplated all this I realized that the population of the world was going to be too much for the world, so the world needed another way of growing food. I also saw that people were running out of jobs and places to live, so I wanted to create a way around that, too.

It all came together with the idea for the SEMAN, and a new life on the sea. I’ve designed the components and worked to refine them and build them for the last 30 years, and I am now getting ready to try it out in real life.
